Startups raising funds

  • The ATP Tour, the top men's tennis tour, has held talks with Saudi Arabia's Public Investment Fund about possible joint ventures. It's also held talks with CVC Capital Partners, which last year invested $150m into the Women's Tennis Association. Link (🔐)
  • SuperScale, a Slovakian revenue growth startup for the gaming market, raised €5m in Series A funding. Venture to Future Fund led, and was joined by Across Private Investments and Zero One Hundred. Link
  • Betr, a media and sports micro-betting platform co-founded by social media star and Roger Ehrenberg (via IA Sports Ventures and Eberg Capital). Link
  • Scriptic, a platform for user-generated games, raised $5.7m led by Bitkraft Ventures led, and was joined by Tower 26 and the Amazon Alexa Fund. Link
  • Anzu, an Israeli in-game advertising startup, raised $48m in Series B funding. Emmis Corp. led, and was joined by PayPal Ventures, Evolution, Simon Equity Partners and Bandai Namco Entertainment 021 Fund. Link

M&A and Private equity deals

  • Warner Bros. Discovery (Nasdaq: WBD) is in talks to sell half of the studio's film and TV music-publishing assets for roughly $500m, per multiple reports. Link
  • Blackstone is seeking to sell half its stake in the Bellagio hotel in Las Vegas, which it bought in 2019 for $4.25b. Link (🔐)
  • Group Black is in talks to buy a majority stake in Arena Group (NYSE: AREN), publisher of Sports Illustrated and owner of media outlets like TheStreet and Men’s Journal, per the WSJ. Link
  • Trinity Hunt Partners acquired REQ, a Washington, D.C.-based digital marketing and advertising company. Link
  • Authentic Brands Group, the brand and rights platform led by Jamie Salter, raised $500m from insider General Atlantic at a $20b valuation, per Bloomberg. Other existing ABG backers include BlackRock, Lion Capital and CVC Capital Partners. Link (🔐)
  • MediaMath, a New York-based operating system for marketers and ad agencies, filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection and plans to end operations. The company was acquired in 2022 by existing investor Searchlight Capital Partners for $150m. Link
